PD Sessions

Please note that you must sign up for all PD by 5pm the day before the event.
Sessions must meet the minimum requirement of 3 attendees to run. If the minimum number of attendees are not met by 5pm, the event will be cancelled and you will receive a notification. 

You can sign up for the PD sessions by using the Events link in the top toolbar. 

What is kidOYO & OYO Pro Passport?

Learn how to leverage the OYOclass platform and kidOYO curriculum to teach your students how to code. In addition to coding, the OYOclass platform can be used to create online curriculum for any subject. 

The OYO Pro Passport allows you access to CTLE accredited professional development and kidOYO mentor support. Learn about how to use the Passport and all you can do with it, as well as the new summer PD opportunities.

Hatch! is our block-based coding app that uses the Scratch language, developed at MIT. These session are aimed at teachers using Hatch! for this first time. Python is one of the most popular text-based programming languages, as well as one of the easiest to learn. These session are aimed at teachers using Python for this first time. Publishing your first website to the internet can be really exciting! However, many people have difficulty learning how to first create a website, then finding out how to host it online.

On OYOclass, everyone gets their own subdomain and web creation tools so that they can publish their website to the internet easily! In this session, we'll teach you how to create a website, how to program in web languages like HTML, and how to publish your website to the world wide web.

First Foray into Robotics - Arduino Programming

Programming is great, but seeing your code come to life in the physical world is even more exciting. The Arduino microcontroller platform is one of the most popular and most flexible ways to begin learning robotics programming. The Arduino doesn't limit you to narrow scope of projects. By learning how to program the Arduino, you can control lights and motors, and work towards diverse projects like drones, custom game controllers, and IoT devices. 

In this session, we will go over how to write program the Arduino to do a variety of tasks. To participate, you must have a kidOYO Prototyping Kit.
